Couch to 5k

I've decided to try out the "Couch to 5k" program because I'm such a lazy asshole 99% of the time. I really don't want to be that mom who sits and watches her kid play because she's too fat and out of shape to bother getting up. This seems like a really simple way to get up and moving in a relatively short amount of time, and I'm looking forward to starting it! (Once I get some good shoes, that is.) I'll let you all know how it goes!!
See? Seems pretty easy to me.

Monday, on a Wednesday.

On Monday we spent a few hours downtown playing in the sun.
It was a perfect, beautiful Spring day here in Prescott. The sky was blue and the sun was shining bright. Kaetana loved rolling around on her blanket and feeling her feet in the grass.
Our friend Sami came to hang out with us and brought her little boy Damian. He's around 14 months old (I think?!) and he's seriously adorable and teeny tiny. So, so cute.
Kaetana found her foot with her mouth for the first time(!) and she was attached after that. It was a really, really great day but towards the end it suddenly got really cold so we headed home after an ice cream cone. I hope everyone has been having a wonderful week so far, and is enjoying Spring as much as we are over here. ♥

Happy Easter!

Today was a ton of fun, and I'd definitely consider Kaetana's first Easter a complete and total success. She and I spent the majority of our day hanging out at my Grandma's house with our family while John was at work. She loved all the fun goodies we got her for her basket, and had a jolly time chewing on everything we gave her. John got off work an hour early which was nice, and we all had a big ham dinner my Grandma made! My Great Aunt Debbie and Uncle Joe came over too and got to see Kaetana for the first time because they've been off gallivanting around the country for the past 5 months. It was good to see them. Kaetana looked adorable in her Easter dress we got her, too! Check it out. :)
Seriously, how CUTE!
Her basket and loot

Adorable dresses!
I hope everyone's Easter was fantastic! ♥

Easter Photo Shoot

Kaetana and her dear friend Riley went to the park a few days ago for a little Easter photo shoot. I think they turned out prettay snazzy, if I do say so myself. Unfortunately, most of Kaetana's photos were a little awkward because a certain failure mother (me) forgot to bring the Boppy to prop the poor dear up on. So I'm only posting one photo of just her. :/ Luckily though, the one that worked out is really adorable! Enjoy!

quick post

I've been looking for a job every chance I get lately, so I haven't had much time (or energy) to update over here. Sorry 'bout that. It's been a pretty interesting week, if not a slow one. Kaetana finally figured out how to roll over from her belly to her back (yay!) so it's nice not having to rescue her every 10 seconds anymore haha. She has also officially grown out of her 0-3 month clothes. It's bittersweet. She's getting so big, and growing so much it makes me really happy - but at the same time I look at all her tiny things she can't wear anymore and it makes me a little sad. Oh well, the plight of parenthood I suppose. :)
See that? That's what pure sadness looks like.
I'm also pretty freaking bummed out because I broke my glasses! For those of you that don't know, I'm pretty much blind. I can't see clearly more than a foot from my face, and if I don't wear my glasses I get a really bad headache. Well, a few nights ago (at 2am, I might add) I got up to feed the baby and hit them wrong or something and snap! They broke right on the bridge of the nose (see photo.) John got them super glued back together but they broke again last night and the glue doesn't seem to be holding as well anymore. Sooo....I'm on the hunt for the cheapest exam, lenses and frames I can find. Which hasn't been too fruitful, and is sad because my broken frames I love! They're Versace and my grandma bought them for me (obviously, I can't afford that shit.) Bah. Sad day.
Tomorrow is a big Earth Day Festival downtown on the courthouse square, so me and Kaetana are meeting a friend down there and will be having lots of fun for sure! I'm so excited it's Springtime now because our town always has really great art fairs and different things on the square during the weekends. I'm looking forward to taking Kaetana to all of them. I'll try and take lots of photos so I can do a post about it next week. Especially since I never get to see said friend because she lives about an hour away and neither of us have the time or money to drive that much very often.

So, there's a little bit about what I've been up to. :) I hope everyone is having a great Earth Day! And I'll be back tomorrow with a glimpse into Kaetana's first Easter basket! ♥

Sweet Peas for my sweet pea.

I think I mentioned it before, but in case I didn't - Kaetana started eating solids a couple weeks ago. She's just not satisfied with her bottles anymore! We gave her sweet potatoes first and she LOVED them. We tried bananas next and she definitely was not a fan (just like her Mama) but a few days ago we decided to try sweet peas and she was all about them. So, I took a video because she got really excited every time I came at her with the spoon. Excuse my ridiculous voice, please. :)

Blood into Wine

A few days ago, John and I watched the documentary Blood into Wine on Netflix. I was talking to my friend Alex about it, and he had gotten a pretty crappy review via his friend Random. (Yes, that's his name.) John wanted to see it anyways so I decided to overlook the review, and I'm so glad I did! It was great. If you're not aware, it's about the winery that Maynard from Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer opened up in Jerome, AZ. Apparently, there was a lot of skepticism regarding whether this would work or not, but it seems to be going really well. The movie goes into all the details of the winery and it actually gets very interesting. I wouldn't even say the real star of the film is Maynard, but rather his partner Eric Glomski. His enthusiasm was evident, and I really enjoyed listening to him speak about the wine and his experiences. I must also say that the moments with Maynard were quite insightful into his general attitude. I've always heard that he's just a huge asshole about everything, but all throughout the film he showed a completely different side of himself. He was passionate and it showed, he was awkward and uncomfortable (it seemed) a lot of the time, and he was actually really humble. He also wears really awesome t-shirts the whole time haha. Oh, and there are also some goofy moments because Tim and Eric from Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! are in it, and they're pretty ridiculous people. Anyways, I just thought I would share about the film and say that I highly suggest watching it. :) or wine or whatever. :)

Flip?

Lately I've been really wanting a video camera! I love taking photos of Kaetana (as I'm sure you've guessed) but I think it would be really nice to be able to capture her in video more often as well. My camera has a video setting but it often goes in and out of focus and it's just a huge pain in my ass. So I was thinking about saving up for a Flip! Specifically this one. I think I like that most because a) it has 16GB of memory and b) I like that the screen is so wide and it slides up. Seems more usable to me! It's $230 which means it'll take me a while to save up for it once I get a job, but I wanted to see if any of you lovely people have a flip cam and what you think of it? Even better if you have the slide!

Inspiration for the home

I can't wait until the day that we're out of this apartment and into a home of our own. I'm always looking at beautiful photos of other people's houses online, and I'm just itching to decorate my own! I decided to put up some photos that are really inspiring to me, for you all to enjoy. :)
*I apologize for not having sources for these. They've been saved on my computer for a while now and I just can't remember where I found them! If you know, please let me know so I can give credit.
I always have everyone take their shoes off inside, and this is such a cute way to say it!
Seriously, how amazing is that wall?! And I'm a sucker for a granny square blanket. ;)

I love, love, LOVE that wall of books. We're definitely doing this for Tana one day!
I love how clean this frame setup looks.

Loving all the wonderful, bright colors mixed with the white. Really great combination.

4 months♥

4 months. Wow. I can't believe that so much time has passed, because it feels like I had her like yesterday. She's grown a TON, and is learning so many new things every day. She turned 4 months on the 7th, so this is a wee bit late but her well check wasn't until today so I wanted to wait so I could post all of her stats and such. She was in a crabby mood when she woke up this morning which resulted in her being even crabbier at the doctor. She was decidedly displeased with the exam, and made sure her poor doctor knew it! She screamed and cried during her shots and it broke my heart all over again. I do hate to see her cry - which means I'm lucky because she really isn't a crier most of the time.
Kaetana is currently weighing in at 13.14 lbs (41st percentile) and 23.75 inches long (18th percentile!). She is going to be a small girl, apparently, which is just fine by me. Short girls are cuter! Though, I do admit I hope she's a little taller than me seeing as I'm only 4'11" haha. Anyways, it seems like Kaetana is really starting to develop her own personality these days, and I love it! She has a few favourite toys, namely her Sophie the Giraffe and her baby doll. She always has one of them in her mouth! Oh, and she has also been doing really excellent sleeping in her room in her crib. I'm learning that I don't need to get up every time she makes any noise, so we're both sleeping better now. :)
This month Kaetana:

- can roll over from back to belly (but not belly to back.)
- has started eating solids, and is a professional at it.
- chuckles. It's not really a giggle, and we haven't gotten a solid laugh yet.
- chews on everything and drools constantly.
- has started sleeping through the night!
- found her feet.

John's Birthday

Saturday was a great day. It was John's 21st birthday, and although our plans of going to Phoenix to go to Castles & Coasters were ruined (it SNOWED the night before and all day Saturday) we made the best of it. John and his best friend Sonny went out at midnight and got really, ridiculously drunk so they were sick and unhappy all day but John sucked it up and we went out to eat and saw Arthur - which was awesome, btw. Kaetana spent the day and night over at my grandma's being watched by my mom. It was really strange being away from her but a welcome break regardless. We went out to the bars that night, and neither of us spent any money on drinks! Awesome. Also, Bria got to go into all the bars with us which was cool because she's only 18. Her mom is a bartender down at The Birdcage, though, so she pulled some strings. Anyways, that was our day. Here are some photos from the night. Please excuse the terribleness of them, because frankly I got too drunk to remember how to properly use my camera indoors in the dark without flash (and kept forgetting to use the flash anyways.) Oops!

Curse you, Mirena.

Let me just start off by saying I have to worst luck with birth controls. I have no idea why, but my body seems not to like them all that much since I turned 20. I got pregnant on the pill (not on purpose, as some would like to believe) and because I took it every day at the same time, 4 o'clock, without fail I decided that after I had Kaetana I would get the Mirena IUD implant. I thought it seemed like the best option as far as birth control goes. 5 years of not having to worry about taking anything? Okay.
Stupid, stupid.
At my 6 weeks postpartum checkup, I talked to my doctor about receiving it. We went through all of the side effects, dangers, and the probability of it failing/coming out/causing any other problems. After talking it through, we went ahead and put it in and I thought all was well. I had another checkup two weeks after the implantation, all looked well, bravo we're happy. Then, two weeks ago, I started having pain. Not severe, and it didn't worry me. Honestly I just thought I was going to get my period! This lasted until Wednesday. Then the stupid IUD came out. I was shocked! I knew it was possible, but not probable, and I really wasn't expecting that to happen at all. I had a scheduled appointment already, so I waited and went in today. Turns out, although it's rare for the thing to come out, if it does your chances of having another one stay are very low. Discussed my options for another kind of birth control (I really didn't want to get back on the pill, because of getting pregnant before) but unfortunately the other kinds aren't really an option for me because of the side-effects. So, here I sit, back on the pill and totally freaked out because I really, really, reeeeaaally don't want another baby right now. One is enough. (Especially since I still haven't found a job.)

Blah.

Anyways. Tomorrow is Kaetana's 4 month well check, so I'll be back with her update then! And I still need to get around to posting all about John's birthday. It was a lot of fun.

I won the Paper Mama Photo Challenge!

I'm so excited. I enter her weekly challenges occasionally, but this is the first time I've ever won one. Yay, go me! And go Kaetana for being too cute for words!
