Photo Dump

The weather here has turned crappy, so Tana and I have been chilin' inside for the most part, which equals not so many interesting things to write about lately. Plus the price of gas has gone up SO MUCH over the last month or so, it's killing my soul. I filled up the car yesterday and it was $3.55 a gallon. Today it's $3.60. Someone please explain to me how it went up .5 in one day, because I truly don't understand the logic in that. Ugh.
Anyways, because it's been kind of a dull moment, I thought I'd post some photos from my phone! Those are kind of the default "I have nothing good to say" posts, right? :) These were taken over the past week or two.

Rainbow Birthday Cake

John's 21st birthday is this Saturday, and I wanted to make him a cake because I don't think birthdays feel right without cake! The only problem is, we've got our day planned full - we're going to be going to Castles & Coasters in Phoenix in the morning/afternoon, then in the evening we'll be back in Prescott hitting up Whiskey Row so he and his friend (who turned 21 yesterday) can go bar hopping and get all kinds of trashed. My mom even agreed to watch the baby overnight (eek!) so I can go, too! It's going to be awesome.
Anyways! Because of that, I decided yesterday that I'd just make his cake then. So, I did. It turned out amazing!! I didn't get any photos of the actual baking process, because I was at my grandma's and forgot my camera :( But I got some of the finished project. It tasted great, too! Take a look:

Kaetana wanted some!!

My Grandpa (he's holding Kaetana in that photo up there) ended up giving her a taste of frosting - against my wishes, I might add! - and she liked it a lot. She was freaking out trying to get at the cake the entire time we were eating it. Oh, and the whole thing is GONE already. A bunch of piggies in my family, I swear. ♥

This is me, Mandy. I'm 22, and Momma to the most beautiful little girl to grace this planet (in my always humble opinion.) I am also girlfriend to an amazing, amazing man. I'm really interested in photography, though I think I pretty much suck at it most days. I want to take a class because I haven't since high school! I mostly take photos of my baby but now that it's starting to (finally) get warm here I will most likely start branching out in my subject matter. Though, I prefer taking photos of people.

I'm also learning to be crafty! I think that sounds so silly, learning to be crafty, but it's true. Some people have a natural talent for it, and some (like me) have to work at it. I'm loving what I've been doing, though, so that's something. I can't wait 'til I get a sewing machine because I have a ton of fun things I want to make.

This is my sweet girl, Kaetana. She is the absolute light of my life! Though she wasn't planned, I couldn't imagine not having her. She's a few days shy of 4 months old, and that blows my mind. I love her so, so much and I love watching her learn and grow every day.

This is John. My boyfriend, my best friend, my soul mate. I can't believe how lucky I was to find him at such a young age. He's the most compassionate, hilarious, helpful and supportive person in the World. You seriously couldn't find a better guy out there -- and he's not too shabby to look at, either. ;)

Downtown Prescott, AZ

Together we live in the small but wonderful town of Prescott, AZ. It's kind of a pain in the butt sometimes because it's so small, and there are a lot of really dumb people that live here (but really, aren't there dumb people in every town?!) - but it's my home! All 3 of us were born here.

So, there you have it. Now you know all about me and my little family.

Surprise

quick update

Hi there! Sorry for my lack of posts, but worry no more because I think I'm going to be back for more regular posting here soon! I haven't found a job yet (boo) but I'm working on it, and I'm feeling a little more optimistic these days. The weather here in Prescott has suddenly become gorgeous so Kaetana and I have been out and about a lot more and I think I have that to thank for my cleared head. There's something so depressing about being inside all winter, isn't there?
Oh, also, remember that Touch Up Tuesday thing I started a little while ago? Well, I think you'll find me doing them a little better now because John got me a copy of Lightroom 3 because he's amazing. I was playing around with it last night and it's pretty fantastic. I love it. So that, mixed in with the amazing weather we're having will most likely lead to some more interesting photos!
