Memorial Day

Today we went downtown to the Western Art Show on the square.
It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun.
Kaetana even got her first corn dog! She freaking loved it.
Some guy made her a ladybug balloon bracelette, too, and it made her whole day.
She carried around the kettle corn bag and freaked out if we tried taking it away,
we saw some really adorable puppies (I really wanted one!) and Kaetana had the best time hugging and petting one of them. I straight up would have brought it home if I could, it was that precious.
Oh, and there was funnel cake involved. Awesome.
It was a pretty excellent day, to say the least.

A new friend.

I am so happy to announce that we are back, baby! We bought a new computer a few weeks ago and got our internet hooked up the other day. I'm so happy and excited to get back in the swing of things here and am looking forward to giving this little blog of mine a whole new look soon. I've got plenty to update on, including Keatana's birthday post (3 months late!) and just random whatnots that have been happening in our lives. Including a new addition to our family!

No, not a baby. Meet Peter, Kaetana's new BFF:

This is a serious match made in heaven right here. Kaetana has been in love since day one, of course, but it took Peter a little while longer to warm up to her and her craziness. She yells, "CAH CAH!" which is her adorable way of saying 'kitty' since she hasn't quite mastered the 'y' sound yet haha. He's just the best little friend to her and it makes me really happy to see the joy on her face every time he's anywhere near her.

Life lately.

I wish I could say I have internet again, but that's still not the case. It's a huge bummer, but we're moving in to a bigger place next month (yay!) and will hopefully get that back going soon. There is a lot to update on, but there isn't the time or means at the moment. Kaetana's birthday was a raging success, as I'm sure I mentioned before, as was Christmas, and she's been growing like a weed lately. She's gotten quite a bit taller, is a master walker/runner now and has truly developed the best personality ever. Hilarious, ferreals.

Here are some random photos off my phone to satiate your curiosity, if you have it. ;)
She loves this piano.

We're in trouble now... she learned how to climb the furniture!

Kaetana hates Santa.

We took Kaetana last week to see Santa, and she was actually cool with him for a minute.
Until she got a good look at him and the tears ensued.

**On a side note, yes I'm still without a computer. Obvs. I'll be back hopefully soon-ish to do Kaetana's 1 year post(!) and talk all about her super amazing birthday.**

Growing up.

Two days ago, Kaetana started walking. Out of the blue, absolutely no warning. Now I'm sitting here watching her walk around the living room, stopping to pick things up and play, and I'm thrown in to this whirlwind of emotion. My baby isn't so much a baby anymore and it's a strange mix of panic, pride, sadness and elation going through me all at once. She'll be 1 in a few short weeks and I'm feeling a little lost as I venture in to this new stage of her life; from baby, to toddler. She's a little person these days with likes and dislikes, opinions on things, and a fierce attitude. She's beautiful and amazing and the smartest child ever (I'm convinced.)
I know this will happen again and again in my/her lifetime, and I doubt it will ever get any easier. This is the cross I bear as a mother, I suppose. I just need to get used to it.

Kaetana - 11 Months

Oh, hi, remember me? No? I'm not surprised. It's been a while. And will remain to be a while because my computer is still broken and I'm just popping on to say hi, post a photo and tell you a little bit about Kaetana! :)
Thanks right, my little stinkbug is 11 months old! Has been, in fact, for about a week and it's CRAZY. She's suddenly doing all these new things and I'm kind of freaking out. She's pretty much a professional "cruiser" along furniture and whatnot now, and has started standing up on her own (without holding onto anything I mean) and it's awesome. She's really proud of herself every time she stands up and gets so excited most of the time she falls right back over haha. She has started doing this really adorable little dance every time any music comes on - always accompanied with a big grin - and is completely crazy about anything that makes her move. She is an eating machine, and is starting the transition away from formula and bottles. I'm a little nervous about taking her bottle away from her completely, so we're going to stall on that for a while. We haven't given her milk yet, either, because we're waiting to hear whether goat's milk is cool. I'm lactose intolerant and it would seem she is as well. Poo for her. Anyways - that's pretty much it at the moment. I'll try really hard to pop back at some point but I make no promises.

Kaetana - 10 Months

Holy smokes, my sweet girl is 10 months old already! All this changing and growing is freaking me out, and making me feel more and more nostalgic by the day. Kaetana is seeming a lot more like a little girl these days, too, and not so much like a baby.
There really isn't a whole lot to update on this month, to be honest. She's getting bigger, smarter, stronger - ya know the drill with these babies. She surprises us every day with the new things she's picked up (like the awesome ability to blow kisses and point!) and I'm loving getting to spend so much more time with her now that I'm not currently working. She's still such a joy to be around, and really is one of the best behaved babies I've met - and that's not just my opinion, everyone else says so too! Overall she's doing just great and I can't believe there are only 2 months left until her birthday. Planning has begun in a serious way for her birthday party and I'll be updating on that pretty soon hopefully. :)
I'll leave you with that cute little butt! ;)

Kaetana - 9 Months

Hi, there! This post is comin at you a little late (5 days to be exact) because sadly my computer is still broken. Which is also why all the photos are from my cell phone. Boo.
I am truly shocked that 3/4 of Kaetana's first year have passed, and we are that much closer to having a toddler on our hands. She is already an absolute handful - her crawl has gotten lightning fast (when she's not being lazy) and she's so good at cruising along furniture, too! Her personality has really begun shining through, as well. She is a ham if I've ever seen one. She loves to make us laugh, and is always doing the most ridiculous things. She's also turned in to quite the adventurer. It's getting rough keeping her out of everything and anything, she wants to know what it all is right now! She still absolutely adores being outside, too, but it's getting harder now because the weather's turning foul.
At the doctor's
We took Kaetana to the doctor on her 9 month birthday (the 7th) and it went really well. We had to discuss her legs with him because they turn more than normal, but he said not to be worried about it too much for the moment. Her shin bone on her left leg is twisted outward, and her femur on her right leg is as well. It's definitely an issue if it doesn't self correct in the next 6 months or so but for now we're kind of just ignoring it.
Her stats at the moment are:
Weight - 18.13 lbs (63%)
Height: 27.25 in (32%)

This month Kaetana:
- pulls up to standing on furniture/the wall
- eats more solid foods than ever
- gives kisses on command
- is still sleeping through the night (10-12 hours)
- started saying, 'da-da'
- is becoming quite independent, unless she's hurt then she wants her mama :)
- is still mostly in 6-9 month clothes, but can fit some 12 month shirts
- still only has two teeth

What She Wore v.4

This is Kaetana's outfit from yesterday.
I love, love, love that skirt - it's my current fave.
It's also size 3T which means it's kind of very long on her
but it just reminds me of a little baby maxi skirt!

Birthday Gifts {Sneak Peek #1}

Clearly, I'm a little bit excited for Kaetana's 1st birthday!
I know I need to get a leg up on the whole buying process seeing as her birthday is a mere 3 months away, and just 3 weeks before Christmas. That, my friends, is going to be a sign of perpetual stress in my life every year I just know it. But anyways yeah I've started buying her things and picking other things out!
 1. Fantastic suede boots 2. Owl hat 3. Owl shirt
Yes, I'm still on the owl thing. I know. Don't judge me I just love them!

Aaand we're cruisin'!

She's been doing this for about a week now. She's also pushing her table toy thing (ya know, the one with all the sweet musical toys attached to the top) around the house. She can walk perfectly along furniture, and has started taking an independent step or two to get from one thing to the next. It's exciting and scary all at once!

Missy's Portraits

This is one of my all time favorite photos of Kaetana, ever. I took it when she was two weeks old (after I had recovered enough from my c-section to actually move around!) and it always makes me so happy to look at. It really shows her little personality so well, and what a goober she's always been. Plus it's painfully cute, don't ya think? Anyways, I discovered this fantastic, amazing giveaway today and couldn't resist entering. It's always a long shot as far as winning goes, but hot damn I've just gotta try! If I do win I'm going to have this photograph turned in to a painting! How exciting is that?! Anyways, not that I'd like any more competition, if you'd like to enter this giveaway go ahead and either click that link up there, or the button below. Good luck! (Not really.)

Bedhead, baby!

Tell me that isn't the most glorious bedhead you've ever seen.
All from a 20 minute nap this afternoon.
Now THAT takes some serious skill.

Tana's Top 10

I was inspired by this post to gather up Kaetana's 10 favorite things to play with, and share them with you! Babies are so silly, and this one's no different. We have about a million toys crammed in to this tiny apartment of ours and she'd still rather play with my keys than anything else.... Weirdo.
1. My keys. (I should add here that she'd rather play with my keys than Johns. And they're identical.) 2. Her toothpaste. 3. Old water bottle filled with beads. 4. Soccer ball rattle from the dollar store. 5. Hello Kitty plush. (Granted, we just bought this for her the other day, so it's mostly just because it's new.) 6. This has been her favorite book since she was really small. The cardboard's all effed up on the back from her chewing on it so much. 7. Sophie, of course. Especially now that she's really figured out how to squeak her. 8. Wipes. No, really, she LOVES wipes. She'll pull them out of the dispenser and rub them on her face and suck on them. So strange, but whatever makes her happy. 9. Old cell phone. 10. Mirror off her play gym from when she was little. (She gives herself kisses all the time.)

Eyes

This is my entry for this week's photo challenge over at The Paper Mama
Kaetana is often complimented on her eyes,
and I'm happy because my entire pregnancy the only thing I ever said was,
"I really hope the baby gets John's eyes."
...and SHE DID!
(Lucky, because mine are poop brown.)

A Saturday Video

Here is a funny/sad video for your Saturday viewing pleasure. This is Kaetana's reaction to this silly duck thing that my Great Aunt got her forever ago. It sings "If You're Happy and You Know It" and used to make her laugh....guess not so much anymore! I actually had to hide the stupid thing in the closet after this because she was completely terrified and refused to go in her room until I did. Hahaa silly baby! (Oh, and John says I'm kind of terrible for filming her when she was so scared, but I thought it was funny!)

Saturday, on Monday {Image Heavy}

On Saturday, Kaetana and I spent a few hours downtown with some friends of ours. It was so nice to be able to get out of the house and do something with my girl for a change - all this working is a serious downer.

Kaetana was totally in her element. She loves being outdoors and it makes me feel guilty that I don't have the time to take her out more often. She was so happy just looking around and trying to eat the grass! There was some sort of family event going on on the opposite side of the Square as us, and they had music and stuff going which was cool and Kaetana was really preoccupied with them and all their noise haha.

We were by ourselves for about a half hour before our friends showed up so I ended up taking a ton of photos. The Square is super pretty during the Summer, with really green grass and the fountain was going. It's a pretty place to take photos and I wish I was better at taking self photos because I have next to none of Kaetana and I together at all.
There are a ton of photos, so I'm gonna stick 'em after a jump so I don't bombard you with them.

Turkey Dinner

Day before yesterday, Kaetana got her first taste of meat in the form of Sprout's Organic Holiday Vegetable Dinner with Roasted Turkey. I have been hesitant to buy any kind of meat dish for her because I'm not a huge fan of pre-cooked, pre-packed meat in general, so why would I give it to my baby? I've been making sure she got her protein elsewhere up until now. Anyways - she freaking LOVED this baby food. Love, love, looooved. I will probably keep buying the meals like this since we still get baby food from WIC and that pretty much covers the basic fruits and veggies. I'm really glad I found this product, and I like that Tyler Florence is the one who started it, and makes the recipes. He's one of my favorite food network people!
Here's a video of her enjoying her meal. Can you tell she liked it? :)

I'll be back tomorrow with her 8 month(!) update.
