Owl Love

I don't know when or how the theme to baby's room became owls, but it happened and I like it. We got this decal set at Target for $15 and had a ton of fun putting it together on her wall. There were so many pieces that they didn't all fit, so there are random woodland type creatures around her room. :)

Gettin' Crafty

I definitely don't claim to be much of an artist, but I painted Kaetana a picture on a huge canvas I've had sitting in my closet for over a year. It's going above her crib and I'm really happy with the way it came out. :)

3D Ultrasound

Today John and I went to get a 3D ultrasound and it was pretty much the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I'm currently 29 weeks and 4 days along, so I was kind of afraid she'd still be really alien-esque and skinny. But nope, she was pretty plump and oh so cute! The tech said she weighs 3 pounds! Also, I think she's going to be long like her Dad. Here are a few of my favourite pictures from today! Please excuse the poor quality - I guess these tiny photos they give you don't translate well via the scanner.

This is my favourite. <3
She has herself bent in half, that's her (not so) little foot!

She looks like my niece Trinity here.
Do you see her little smile?

That long thing she's smashed up against?
Her leg.

Probably the worst quality one but look at her open mouth!

Last but not least - the only decent front view shot we got.
She was pretty squished up there so her nose looks funny, but I like how grumpy she looks.

And, for fun, I put together this little collage!
It's crazy how much she's grown.

I'm so thrilled. She's beautiful, and the technician got really excited about her. She decided she wanted to see her again in a few weeks after she's "plumped up a bit" so she made us another appointment for the 5th free of charge!! <3

One Happy Momma!

Today, my lovely and wonderful boyfriend John got me a Wii!! I've been wanting one forever and it's my super early Christmas present from him. He also got me the best game ever, so now I've got to go PLAY!! Love. <3

The Room: What we've done so far.

After all the negative things that have happened this week, and all the boring spending time in bed, I was really happy when John went out and (finally) got the paint for Kaetana's room. My parents came over next day and painted it all for us, too! The color is such a subtle shade of green I think it's hard to tell in the photos. Look at the contrast between the baseboard and the wall, I suppose, to get kind of a general idea. While they were here they put the crib together for us as well, because the mattress is on order and should be here early next week. It seems so early to be doing all of this (she's due to arrive Dec 2nd!) but after all the chaos I wanted to make absolute sure it would be done done done by the time she does get here - be it early, on time, or late.

See that rug? My friend got it and I am in LOVE. It works perfectly with the crib bedding (though you can't really tell yet, since all we've got on the crib is the skirt) and I think it adds such a great touch to the room. I want a nice girly room, but I don't want it to be so in your face pink! Hence the green walls, ha. This next weekend we'll be getting the changing table and will probably start with the decoration-type things. It makes me so happy to have such progress done, and I've found myself a few times leaving the bed post and sitting in that glider just thinking about how in a few short months I'll be right there with a beautiful little girl in my arms. <3

I'm a sugar failure!

Well, I failed my glucose screening test, and I'm super bummed out about it! It seems like the farther in to this pregnancy I get, the more problems keep popping up. So now I have to go back for the 3 hour one that will tell me if I have gestational diabetes or not.

I try to eat good. Okay, sure, I pretty much fail 90% of the time, but I still try! And I'm hypoglycemic. Which is probably what's really going on, it's turning in to diabetes and I'm going to become my poor sister who got gestational with 2/3 of her kids and it just never went away and now she has type 1 diabetes. BLEH.

Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but the OB nurse said she hopes I make it to 34 weeks. What! Hopes? Oh, geez, I hope so too.

Frustration, frustration, stress and frustration. That pretty much sums up my life right now.
Also, I'm already tired of laying in bed all the time.

Bed Rest

For the past few days I've been experiencing some mild lower abdominal pain, mixed with light cramping. This didn't worry me too much because I've been quite a bit more active as well. However, after spending all of today doing nothing (and I mean NOTHING) and not getting any kind of relief, I decided maybe it was time to see what was wrong. After not getting any reply from the doctor on call at my office, I ended up going to the Birthing Center. There, they hooked me up to a couple monitors (one to see if I was contracting, one to keep track of baby's heartbeat) and waited for about an hour. Well, I wasn't contracting and Kaetana sounded nice and healthy but the on call doctor decided that before he sent me home they would go ahead and check my cervix just in case. Good plan I guess because they found out I'm dilated just enough to fit a finger through. Not normal for someone 28 weeks pregnant.

So here I am now, in bed at home, and I've been put on bed rest until at least next week when my scheduled doctor's appointment is. I'm feeling pretty bummed out and am hoping this girl stays in my belly for at least another 6-7 weeks. I really don't want to have to go to Phoenix with a legit preemie.

I'm a slacker.

This week has been busy, lazy and great. I've gotten some school work done, but still have a Psychology paper to write by Sunday (which I've been procrastinating on for over a week!) It's been over 3 years since I've been in school at all, and it's hard to get back in the swing of things.

I've also been working on getting some more practical things for baby. It's so easy to walk in to a store and immediately gravitate towards all the teeny adorable girl outfits, but I have to constantly remind myself that she doesn't need every cute piece of clothing I see! A few things I've picked up for her over time are:

Piggy Bank from Target!

$50 Glider/Ottoman garage sale find

Basket Side Table from the 50's with a clear plastic top.
As you can see, I'll be chucking toys and blankets in there for extra storage.
Found at a cute antique store Downtown.

Bad photo of a gorgeous painting done by my tattoo artist, Tony Carey.
Might be a little odd to put in a nursery, but I love it.

(and, what post would be complete without a few pieces of clothing I've picked up?!)

There are a lot of little booths that go up on the town square during the weekends in Summertime - -
I got this from a local vendor because it's just too cute.

My good friend Ashley got this for Kaetana at a tattoo convention.
It's my favourite piece of clothing she has.<3

We've also gotten a fabulous new crib, and my friend Anna is giving us her son's changing table/dresser combo because she no longer uses it. I'm so happy and lucky to have such generous loving people in my life.
