Progress!

We have been making some seriously legit progress in baby's room over the past couple of weeks and I'm super excited about it! It took all of about 2 hours for me and John's mom to clear out a huge amount of nonsense I've been hanging on to for a looong time and it felt great to finally get rid of it all. So, check it out.

We're moving the drum set out this weekend, and that crib is going to my grandma's house because we're getting a different one. So after that - all that's left to do is PAINT!! I'm so so sooooo excited about painting. We picked the best colors ever (light light pink and green) but I can't find any good examples online to show you. Trust me when I say they're adorable.

We decided to keep the dresser in the closet to save space because it's a pretty tiny room. The whole process is really starting to come together and my brain has been swimming with cute little ideas to decorate once we finally get all the big stuff together. It's times like this that I wish I was craftier than I am. Or at least owned a sewing machine so I could try! Etsy is probably going to be my new bff when it comes to finding really unique adorable items for my baby boo.

In other news, I'm 26 weeks today! Woo! So close to the 3rd trimester! I can't even wait to get this little girl out of me and in to my arms. But I guess it's cool if she stays in there for a few more months and puts the finishing touches on her cuteness.

Go check this out!

I have found some seriously fantastic blogs lately, and I'm loving it. One of my follows, The Undomestic Momma, is a definite favourite. It's always a good read. And now - she's doing a great giveaway! Some lucky someone will be winning a Monogrammed backpack and I think that you should go check it out here! Good luck!! <3

Modern Monday

Today = More baby stuff I wish I could afford.

Just because you're putting dirty diapers in it, doesn't mean it has to be ugly.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous mobile.

Super legit baby lounger. Really unique and beautiful.

Not your average glider, and I think I'm a little obsessed with it.

Shower Invites!

I should start this out by saying that I hate surprises. I'm wayyy too impatient and bossy to just sit back and let people plan things without at least telling me what they're doing. This being said, I've kind of taken charge of planning my baby shower. Some people have said this is tacky, and that it makes it seem like I'm asking for gifts or whatever, but why would I want to go to a shower I'll have no fun at? That's my theory, at least. And as much as I love and adore my family, I probably wouldn't love everything they decided to do for it.

So, I've been working with my friend Cayla on the shower invites. She is the most amazing scrapbooker ever and is doing a fantastic job. She matched them to the bedding we chose for babyboo and they're seriously perfection.

Isn't she the best? <3

25 weeks!

Every Thursday, I get really excited because it means I'm another week more progressed! I seriously cannot wait for this baby girl to get here, I'm the most impatient person in the world. I'm pretty much glued to Baby Center. I love it.

So! Here we go with the 25 week update.

I haven't gotten much bigger, but Kaetana has definitely moved down a little more and I've rounded out on the top and bottom. It's nice because up until the last few weeks I've been growing pretty steadily and like I mentioned before, it's put a lot of strain on me.

Her movements have become more subtle over the week, and it's been a cause of new stress for me. At my doctor's appointment Wednesday, they assured me everything was fine and normal and she is doing just grand. Her little heartbeat was 163 and they found it right away which freaked me out because up until now my poor doctor has had to chase her around to find it. After freaking out, I've been told that baby is growing faster than I am and she has a little less room to move around at the moment. So, I pretty much need to stop spazzing about it. I'm way too neurotic for pregnancy.

I love winning stuff.

How stinkin' cute are these?! A while back, I won a contest through a favourite blog Mar and the Peej, which got me any pair of handmade baby booties from Pleasantly Plum Knits on Etsy. Super exciting! Anyways, I chose these little green mustache booties for Kaetana even though I'm pretty sure they're meant for a little boy. I just seriously couldn't pass them up, and I can't wait to see them on her wee feet. <3

I'm all squished!

For the past few weeks I've been experiencing some bad pain in my upper left abdomen, and it's gotten so bad that this morning I couldn't ignore it anymore and ended up calling my doctor. Well, no one could figure out what it might be so they decided I should go to the E.R. and get checked out.

Awesome. Overall, I spent 3 hours at the hospital getting pumped full of fluid while they ran all sorts of super cool tests on me.

The overall verdict?

                   Get ready!

                                  ....I'm short.

No, really?!!?! Shocking. Turns out I'm already pretty much out of room for all my insides to go. They're all squashed up and there's nothing anyone can do about it and I really hope baby stops growing upwards so much and starts growing out because this shit hurts.

Birthing Class!

I just signed up for my birthing class. I'm so excited - it makes everything feel super close and like I'm finally getting moving and being ready for this. There are a lot of people in my life that didn't do birthing classes, but I just feel like there's no reason not to. I have no idea what the hell I'm doing as far as childbirth goes, so why not have someone fill me in?! Awesome.

I'm a little bummed out, though, because I'm only allowed one "partner" to join me in taking the classes and I have two people I want! John will obviously be the one who goes, but my sister is also going to be in the room when we have baby so I was hoping she'd be able to come too. Not like she needs it - she has 3 kids of her own!

In "baby stuff" news, John and I are supposed to go over to the house of one of his managers tonight to look at some stuff she's giving us. She has a lot, I guess, including a really nice crib... which would be great because the one we have now is kind of shitty!

Hope everyone has a lovely rest of the day! <3

Modern Monday

I love the modern style. I am always lurking the internet looking for new amazing things I wish I could afford. This being said - I figured it would be fun to do a weekly thing where I just put up stuff I like. :)

Being mainly obsessed with baby-related items as of late, we'll start there.

I love this bookshelf, it would be perfect in a kid's room.

This is the bedding I originally wanted for Kaetana's nursery, but I couldn't justify spending that much on it. Still - it's lovely.

I want this. Really, really bad. It's genius.

Such a perfect highchair.
<3

Oh geez

Kaetana's room scares me. No, really, check it out.

There is so much work to be done in there, and 98% of it has to go. Which is scary to me, because I'm a huge pack rat and I've had some of that stuff since Elementary school. The closet in there is literally full of boxes of stuff I've collected over the years. Nothing cool, nothing particularly special or anything, just stuff that has random memories attached to it. I need to force someone to come help me go through and clear it out.

Luckily, she won't be here 'til December (or late November?) and she will be sleeping in a bassinet in our room for the first while anyways so I have time. :)

Boring Wednesday

Today's been pretty mellow. I've really been enjoying having all this time for myself, and I've definitely taken advantage of not having to wake up and go to work every day. John has been helping me clear out what has been our junk filled storage room because in just a few short months it will be serving a much more important purpose: Kaetana's room! I'm a huge pack-rat, so we've been donating stuff left and right. Today, the DAV came and took a bunch of random furniture we had stored in there that we don't need and I'm starting to get really excited the more that room clears out!

I've also been shopping for baby boo. Mostly cutesy little clothing items, so I thought I'd share some of my favourites today. I looove them!!

Have a wonderful week! <3

22 Weeks

This is an exciting week for me, because Kaetana's movements have gotten super strong. It's gone from little bubbly rumblings in my tummy to full fledged bumps and kicks. It's amazing, and as an added element of awesomeness, John can feel her now too! It makes me so happy to see him lay there with his hand on my belly and smile every time she thumps him. He is going to be the best daddy.

In other developments, I'm freaking huge. I'm short (4'11") so I suppose the poor girl has nowhere to go but out! At the rate I'm going, I'll be surprised if I can walk by the end of this pregnancy.

It's a.....

Last week, we found out we're having a baby girl. I truly could not be more excited - it's exactly what I was hoping for. I knew that I'd be thrilled with either outcome, as long as baby was healthy, but when the ultrasound tech said those wonderful words (ooh, it's a girl!) my heart burst with happiness. I was definitely hoping that would be the outcome. So now here we are preparing ourselves for the entrance of this sweet, sweet angel in to our lives. So fantastic.

I've had my baby girl name picked out for years. It was pretty difficult to convince John that this was definitely the name we should use, though. He really wasn't keen at first, but I think constant bugging wore him down and now he's all attached to it. Which is why I am veeerrryy excited to say that we've chosen... *drum roll* ... Kaetana Danielle! I am absolutely in love, and I can't wait to meet you. <3

Another Fresh Start

I have re-done this blog several times now, and I always abandon it before I ever really get going. I'm hoping that now being really in to the swing of my pregnancy, and recently unemployed, I'll finally have time to devote towards blog life. <3
